You can eat whatever you want during your period without gaining weight.

Eating too much during menstruation will definitely lead to weight gain.

There's a long-standing rumor in the weight loss world that women can eat whatever they want during their menstrual period without gaining weight.

Therefore, many girls start to indulge themselves during their menstrual period and eat all kinds of snacks.

After all, there are only a few special days each month, so how can you not treat yourself well!

Moreover, menstruation involves significant blood loss and physical exertion, which also accelerates metabolism. Eating more during menstruation not only eliminates the worry of weight gain but also replenishes the body's energy.

It sounds reasonable, but is it really true?

Wake up! If you believe this, you'll gain weight! Eating too much during your period will definitely make you gain weight! The idea that you can eat whatever you want during your period and not gain weight is just your illusion.

Reason 1: Metabolism does not speed up during menstruation.

Some people may have heard that metabolism is faster during menstruation, making it less likely to gain weight.

In fact, a person's metabolism does not fluctuate significantly throughout the entire menstrual cycle.

Food consumed during menstruation that exceeds your metabolic capacity will still be stored as fat.

Reason 2: Weight fluctuations before and after menstruation are due to water retention in the body.

Many people feel that their weight drops after menstruation, and they think it may be due to the increased metabolism during menstruation.

Actually, it's not that. Rather, it's that body swelling before and during menstruation leads to weight gain, and the weight loss occurs after menstruation when the swelling subsides.

It's like when you buy something online and are happy to see a discount, but because you didn't look carefully, you didn't realize that the price was actually secretly increased before the discount.

You were so naive, and you were deceived just like that.

Reason 3: I feel uncomfortable during my period, so I eat less.

Some people might say, "I ate a lot of chocolate during my period, but I didn't gain weight."

That's because you were already feeling unwell during your period, such as menstrual cramps and feeling cold, so you didn't eat much.

At this time, if you eat some chocolate or other desserts, of course you won't gain weight.

Because what determines whether you gain weight or not is the total calories you consume in a day.

I've said before that if you don't eat three meals a day, you can eat 15 fried chicken wings and not gain weight.

Therefore, the idea that you won't gain weight no matter what you eat during your period is a complete trap, an excuse that greedy girls make for themselves.

However, if you are an ambitious and self-disciplined girl, you can indeed make good use of your regular menstrual cycle to make weight loss more efficient.

First of all, it's important to know that the levels of estrogen and progesterone in a woman's body fluctuate significantly throughout the menstrual cycle.

Because estrogen is closely related to our weight loss speed, we can use this to make weight loss easier and more efficient.

The menstrual cycle is mainly divided into three phases: menstruation, postmenstrual phase (from the end of menstruation to the beginning of ovulation), and premenstrual phase (from the beginning of ovulation to the beginning of menstruation).

Menstrual period

During menstruation, it is recommended to avoid overeating and excessive dieting to lose weight.

In addition, women are more sensitive during menstruation. They can move their bodies by walking and stretching, but they should avoid actions that compress the abdomen and avoid strenuous exercise. Just maintain a healthy diet.

Pay attention to a balanced diet, eat more protein-rich foods, and also eat more iron-rich foods to replenish blood.

For protein sources, you can choose lean meat, eggs (promise me you won't throw away the yolks), chicken, fish, shrimp, and beans.

Vegetables you can choose include spinach, celery, and tomatoes.

Avoid eating spicy or irritating foods. Do not drink alcohol, drink less coffee, eat less chili peppers, and avoid eating raw or cold foods.

After the later period

After menstruation ends and before ovulation, a woman's estrogen levels are relatively stable, and her body is in a good state. This period is more conducive to muscle gain and improving the body's metabolic efficiency.

Therefore, at this time you can consume more carbohydrates and do more strength training to promote muscle growth.

However, building muscle is inherently difficult for women, so there's no need to push yourself too hard. Just stick to 30-60 minutes of muscle-building training every day or every other day.

For this stage, I recommend using my yellow recipe (see appendix).

After the early stage

This stage can be described as the "golden period" for weight loss, but it can also be said to be the most challenging time.

Because estrogen levels are relatively low at this time, your cravings for starch will become stronger, so you need to restrain yourself from having such thoughts.

Maintain your usual healthy diet, eat more whole grains and protein; only by getting through this period will you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I recommend referring to my blue recipe (see appendix).

At this stage, exercise should focus on aerobic exercise, which is more conducive to burning fat. The frequency and intensity of exercise do not need to be too high. 3 to 4 times a week, 40 minutes each time is sufficient.

Recommended sports: swimming, basketball, rope skipping, running, brisk walking.

Following this pattern will make your weight loss more efficient.

However, in general, due to their physiological characteristics, women should not lose weight too quickly. Losing weight too quickly can easily lead to premature ovarian failure. Never risk your life for the sake of being thin.
